1.  Thank you all for your support and kindness regarding Kenzie (see this post).   It meant a lot to both Greg and I.

2.  I've sewn up a block for Aneela Hoey who has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer.   Chelsea over at Pins and Bobbins is organizing everything.  You can read more about it here should you be so inclined to participate.  It feels good to support someone in this small way.

3.   Almost four weeks ago, my brother fell off a roof.  Of a two story house.  We're all so fortunate that he's going to be ok.  He broke some bones in his forehead, his nose, both wrists, and a small bone in his arm near his wrist popped through the skin.  He had surgery almost immediately and is doing so very well.  The neurologist said he's lucky he landed face down.  It was hard to be so far away - he lives in Texas.  His wife and step son were so good about keeping me up to date and sending me photos, though the pictures were comforting (he's alive!) and hard to look at all at the same time.

4.  My parents sold their little cabin in the mountains in April.  I can understand why but I already miss it like crazy.  I called it My Happy Place.  I've been going up there for 25ish years and there are lots of good memories there with my kids and my husband.   We found a place to rent when we go up there and our vacation in May, while far more luxurious, was bittersweet.
5.  I am still working on the red and white quilt that was a BOM.  I think this is month 10.  These 12.5" blocks are actually part of one of the borders.  I've got month 11 cut out.  Getting close!

6.  I'm so thankful for those of you who are still here.  I know I've been quiet.  I think sometimes we all need to take a step back and get centered again.   I think I'm there or almost there!

So sorry to hear about your brother Jackie! Sounds like he will be alright but I'm sure the healing and recovery are going to be hard for him.
Beautiful blocks! I recall when our family cabin was sold but we have tons of happy memories. Glad you were able to rent a place that you and your family can still visit.
love Annette

You block for Aneela looks great. You are right.. it's nice to offer comfort where you can to show support. Beautiful BOM and great progress.

Falling off a roof does not sound like fun. Ouch! Thank goodness he's doing so well. Just so scary.

I can understand the nostalgia about the cabin. Hard to let go of these things. I'm sure you'll love your new place though so have fun there.

oh my so many things that on an individual basis would make life difficult and bring some sadness.... I hope that your family is healing and that your stitching is helping in that process. I know mine does. Changes, illnesses and injuries are so difficult and the older I get the more I feel that I can't "handle" them.

My goodness, you've had such a lot to cope with... no wonder you've felt the need for a break from the blogosphere. Your quilting is as beautiful as ever, and I hope it's been a comfort to you. Here's hoping for better times for you all, hugs.

Love the red and white quilt border. The paisley fabric forms interesting patterns.

Aneela and your brother will be in our prayers for speedy and complete recoveries.

The cabin looks lovely and serene. Sorry that it had to be sold.

Wow you have been busy. I'm so sorry to hear about your brothers fall and so grateful that he is okay and nothing worse happened. Sad that your folks sold the cabin, I bet you have a lot of wonderful memories there. Big Hugs my friend and take as many breaks as you need to, sometimes that's good for the soul. I'll be here when you come back. Hugs!!

Jackie, I am truly sorry about your family pet.. I enjoy reading your blog but as of late I find I'm not keeping up with my reading or my blog posting. I'm with you about taking breaks on it. Keep up the great work you do and know you have at least one who reads but fails to post comments. My bad! Have a wonderful day..

I love that quilt WIP. It's gorgeous! Yikes on your brother! Thank God he is going to be ok, but the poor guy! You must have freaked out! So sad about your parents' cabin. :( I know how much it meant to you (I'm assuming that's where you always went when you were in the mountains). Lovely block for Aneela Hoey too. Lots of hugs. I think Instagram is so much easier -- it might be one reason why so many of us have a hard time blogging these days.

Oh Jackie, so sorry to hear about your brother's fall. But so much luck that he will be OK after such a fall.

A nice block for Aneela. And the border for your BOM quilt is looking fantastic. I'm very curious to see the whole quilt when it's finished.

Have a beautiful day. Many hugs, Marie

Gosh, your brother's accident sounds very scary, Jackie. I'm so glad it wasn't worse. We have a friend who ended up in really tough shape and unable to walk after a fall off his roof. I hope he continues to improve.

How sad that your parents' cabin was sold. I suppose it just got to be too much upkeep for them. But, I know you'll treasure the memories your family made there. I would love to rent a cabin like that in the mountains for a week or so--that is much more appealing to me than a beach vacation.

Beautiful red and white quilt you are making--oh my! And the quilt block for Aneela is really pretty, too.

I hope you're doing okay without little Kenzie around--I know it must seem very quiet around your house...

What a scary experience for your brother!I'm so glad he is going to be okay. It must have been so hard to see your parents' cabin go. It looks like a wonderful place to spend time. Love the red and white quilt, and a lovely block for Aneela, too. Everyone needs some time every now and again ~ glad to see a post from you. :)

You have lots going on right now Jackie. I hope your brother has a speedy recovery. No thing wrong with stepping back from the blog for awhile. Posting should be fun. I haven't posted much either lately. No particular reason. Thanks for telling us about the quilt for Angela.

Oops! Her name is misspelled in my comment. So sorry! The quilt is for Aneela.

OMG OMG OMG reading about your brother!!!!!!!! The poor thing. :(
Gosh, he probably is really lucky though. That's quite the fall. Tell him to stay away from ladders now - FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.

Oh Jackie, I missed this post somehow! I hope your brother is doing better. What a scary thing to have happen.
I am sorry about little Kenzie too. Sometimes we have too much "life" happen at once, don't we?
I love the red quilt you are working on. It will be a real show stopper when it's finished.
Take care!
